The Boond mission is to solve some of the biggest global challenges - adequate lighting, access to clean drinking water and pest control affecting the remote areas of the world. Through its innovative environment friendly products and sustainable business oriented approach.

Boond solves big global challenges through collective effort by ordinary individuals. In order to do so, it connects those who have the resources and the capacity to those who still lack the necessities like lighting and clean water. The Boond movement believes that by using innovative technology, smart financing and creating processes for entrepreneurial development, big changes can be made in small increments or boonds. 

Boond creates entrepreneurs who sell and service development products like solar lamps (and home systems), water filters, efficient cooking stoves, dynamo lamps and mosquito nets in remote rural areas or areas affected by calamities (floods etc.). The products are aimed at providing the poor with access to adequate lighting, clean water, efficient cooking and pest control, thereby improving their productivity and health. By train young people in becoming entrepreneurs Boond also provides livelihood to the rural unemployed while at the same time ensuring that best servicing standards are maintained.

The products are manufactured in India and are environmentally friendly. The solar lamp also helps in carbon reduction as it substitutes kerosene usage, thus making a secondary impact as well.

Nuru Lights

Nuru Lights is a social enterprise that sought to invent an affordable and clean off-grid lighting system for the world’s poor. The main reasons behind the motive to replace kerosene by the company are to bring on an affordable, healthy, environmentally friendly and safe for purpose way of lightning the world. 

This venture has a myriad of positive impacts for the rural people. Not only it's an affordable form of lighting system, resulting in over a 85% savings over kerosene but also helps the environment by providing an emissions-free lighting system and aids in employment opportunities for the local people. Their innovative technology won many awards and business plan competitions and has been mentioned in the New York Times, Fortune magazine and the likes.

Isha Kakaria : Social Activist

Isha Kakaria, a business graduate, inspired by Mother Teresa is the founder of Chandigarh based NGO Tammana. Passion for social work drove her to start an NGO for the welfare of the society. Tammana not only helps the society but also provide many other people like her a platform to showcase their love and care towards the society.

 

Insipred by her critics Isha launched Tammana’s first social programme three years back on 1^st September 2008, from where it has never looked back. TAMMANA does not charge any membership fees and is completely a voluntary NGO. Tammana once a one-man start is now 75+ members strong. TAMMANA looks forward to continue serving with the same pure intentions, consistency, same increasing enthusiastic team and the never give up attitude.

Isha adds, people usually think about serving, but one often stays back in lieu of shortage of time and resources. However, TAMMANA took the courage of bringing a change in the minds of many and had let them know that where lies a will, comes a way. 

Isha besides being the winner of women achiever award and social service award was also awarded commendation award for her selfless service on Independence Day by Shri.Shivraj Patil, Governor, Punjab.

Commutiny – The Youth Collective (CYC) is a group that promotes youth development in India.  They understand that to bring the youth in the centre of development processes, they need to build an enabling environment, a positive image of young people and their contribution, and facilitate a big leap in mainstreaming youth centric processes in the country. 

Commutiny is a collective of like-minded professionals from diverse organizations who believe passionately in the power of young people to envision the future and to act in the present. 

While working directly with youth and youth organizations CVC also work actively with the media which needs to resurrect itself as a genuine dipstick of the youth pulse and become a responsible platform for getting authentic youth voices into the mainstream. CVC overall goal is to promote youth leadership for greater participation in decision making.

 

CYC’s Creative Media & Policy Group equips youth at the grassroots with media tools and resources to enhance the positive social impact in Commutiny. 

The Commutiny Learning and Leadership Journeys (LLJ) is a yearlong programme for Young Change Leaders from across India; the Programme offers support for a Journey of intensive personal learning and reflection, combined with an opportunity to lead an independent social change experiment.

It was all started back in 2006, when Pravah and the Youth & Civil Society Initiative of Sir Ratan Tata Trust (YACS-SRTT) worked together to develop strategies for strengthening youth development in India.

Tata Jagriti Yatra

Tata Jagriti Yatra is an annual train journey that that takes hundreds of India's highly motivated youth (with some participation of international students) between the ages of 20-25 and experienced professionals with age above 25, on a eighteen day national odyssey, introducing them to unsung heroes of India.

The aim is to awaken the spirit of entrepreneurship - both social and economic - within India's youth by exposing them to individuals and institutions that are developing unique solutions to India's challenges. The vision of Tata Jagriti Yatra is to inspire young Indians living in the middle of the Indian demographic diamond (Rs 40-Rs 120 per day) to lead development by taking to enterprise. By doing so, they can turn from being job seekers to job creators. 

The message of the Yatra is expressed through Jagriti Geet – 'Yaaron Chalo, Badalne Ki Rut hai' a message is of a positive change through enterprise. Instead of bemoaning what is wrong with the country, our participants and the Jagriti fraternity takes action by enterprise led development to make India better.

Dream A Dream

Dream A Dream was founded in November 1999. The twelve founder dreamers were Arjun Dugal, Brinda Jacob, Neha Shah, Pramod Ramprasad, Rahul Mathur, Rashmi Bajaj, Sandeep Wadhwa, Shweta Kothari, Supreeta Sampath, Vipul Chhabria, Vishal Talreja & Vishwa Prasad.

Dream A Dream empowers children from vulnerable backgrounds by developing life skills while at the same time sensitizing the community through active volunteering leading to a non-discriminatory society where unique differences are appreciated. 

Dream A Dream provides children from vulnerable backgrounds with non-traditional educational opportunities designed to allow them to explore, innovate and build important life skills. These life skills are fundamental to child/youth development and to the successful transition into adulthood and becoming fully functioning and productive members of our society.

Dream A Dream programs allow children to develop:

·         Interpersonal skills including teamwork, communications, negotiation and coping skills.

·         Cognitive skills such as decision-making, problem solving and critical thinking.

·         Creativity, confidence, self-awareness and a passion for learning.

They have empowered over 3000 children referred from 12 NGO partners, through an active and enthusiastic base of 1500 volunteers in Bangalore, participating with a professional and skilled Dream Team who works under the guidance of a strong, committed and dynamic Board.

None of us realized the power we were unleashing - The Power of One. We didn't know how far we would take Dream A Dream, but what we did know was that our lives would never be the same again and we would greatly impact the lives of a few children."
